Propylene glycol or propylene glycol is a colorless organic liquid with a thick and sticky texture. The chemical name is “Propane-1,2” with the formula C3H802. The CAS registration number is 57-55-6. Typical names are propylene glycol (PG) and monopropylene glycol (MPG). Propylene glycol can be made in various grades. The most controlled grade is called propylene glycol-USP / EP and is manufactured and distributed according to the highest industry standards. The normal class PG is called the industrial type. Both grades may be marketed under different brand names. Used in the production of food and cosmetics as well as in the electronic cigarette, it is safe for humans and environmentally friendly.
