Never soak olive wood in water so as not to bring moisture to the plant fibre. Therefore, washing your items in this beautiful material should never be done in the washing machine. Wash with soapy water without soaking. Then sponge it up or let it air dry.
When there is no more trace of moisture, and regularly when you see it is dry, coat the olive wood with vegetable oil. The oil will give it even more impervious to bacteria and odours.
